🌍 Embodied AI and Robotics for HealTHcare (EARTH)
The field of medical intervention has consistently led the integration of cutting-edge technologies to improve patient healthcare. The MICCAI community has been pivotal in fostering innovations in this domain, with a special focus on the exploration and application of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. The proposed workshop, Embodied AI and Robotics for HealTHcare (EARTH), aims to advance the discourse on surgical intervention by focusing on embodied AI, including the latest advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), and robotics. This integration is crucial for enhancing the precision, adaptability, and standardization of surgical procedures.
The EARTH workshop is dedicated to advancing the field of embodied AI and robotics in healthcare by leveraging the latest advancements in general-purpose AI. These general-purpose AI technologies, especially LLMs, demonstrate advanced understanding, reasoning, and planning capabilities, enabling the processing of extensive medical literature, surgical protocols, and robotic functions to support decision-making, outcome prediction, personalized surgical planning, and even surgical robot control. Our goal is to integrate these AI advancements into the development of intelligent surgical robots that are capable of intelligent interactions with the medical environment and human collaborators. Focusing on the interplay between embodied AI and robotics, the EARTH workshop will foster the creation of intuitive, autonomous, and semi-autonomous robotic assistants that learn, adapt, and assist in the complex decision-making required for surgical interventions. Through this workshop, we invite the MICCAI community to engage with this novel and exciting application of embodied AI and robotics technology, which is on the verge of revolutionizing the surgical intervention and setting new standards for patient healthcare.
